The WHITES

2004 Viognier, The Foundry, Cape of Good Hope, South Africa £27
A lovely example of this rare white northern Rhone grape variety that we recently discovered on our holiday this January. Peaches, apricots, tropical fruit aromas and a fine balance of acidity. Dry and perfumed , perfect with shellfish.

2004 Sauvignon Blanc, Dry River Wines, Martinborough, New Zealand £33.95
From possibly the most highly regarded estate in NZ. Dr Neil McCallum’s wine comes from 25 year old vines and a tiny vineyard. Flinty, stony, honeyed, appley, spices on the palate , with a long , refined and complex finish.

1998 Riesling “Ried Loibenberg” Smaragd, Emmerich Knoll, Wachau , Austria  £45.00
One of very best producers in the Wachau region of Austria, making some of the finest dry white wine in the world. This is a late picked dry wine , ripe and full of concentrated , honeyed, creamy spicy fruit. Intense and full with an appley, mineral finish with great elegance and poise.

The REDS

1999 “Ruhanui “, Cabernet/Merlot/Syrah Blend, Stonecroft Cellars Hawkes Bay, New Zealand. £25.00
An unusual blend from an area normally famous for it’s Cabernet. Deep, rich with aromas of blackcurrants and pepper. This is full of character, ripe with elegance , finesse and a long spicy finish.

2000 Santenay Rouge 1er Cru Passetmps, Jean-Marc Vincent, France  £36.00
Lovely ready to drink Burgundy! From a very talented up and coming young producer in the Cote de Beaune . Full of strawberry, raspberry and red cherries. Wonderful balance of ripe fruit and acidity with a hint of earthiness on the end.                                                                                  

1999 Rioja ”Pagos Viejos”, Bodegas Artadi, Rioja Alavesa, Spain  £49
One of the finest new wave producers in Rioja. From 60 year old vines, aged in new oak barrels, this shows fabulous concentration and ripeness. With subtle aromas of vanilla, brambles and spices, palate is full ,rich with long silky tannins.
